Top 10 Nine Worlds Experiences in Iceland & Greenland

Ten years ago, Nine Worlds set out to create unforgettable travel experiences in Iceland and Greenland. Over the past decade, we've focused on designing tailor-made journeys that fully immerse guests in the untamed landscapes of these Nordic countries.

Along the way, we’ve had the privilege of helping our clients celebrate some of life’s most memorable moments. These include honeymoons, anniversaries, family vacations, and milestone birthdays.

Since 2014, we’ve grown into a leading travel agency for luxury, experiential tours, known for our bespoke itineraries and commitment to excellence.

To mark this special occasion, we've selected 10 standout experiences our guests have enjoyed while traveling with us. Each has delivered unforgettable moments, offering a perfect mix of luxury and adventure.

Thank you so much for your care with this special couple. [My client] has expressed to me how impressed she was with everything you put together and her overall experience. I thank you so much for this!

1. Soaring over the Westfjords on a heli expedition

The wild and rugged Westfjords have been a favorite destination for clients eager to explore Iceland off the beaten path. In this remote region, they’ve found the perfect escape to disconnect and recharge, surrounded by dramatic fjords, breathtaking coastlines, and fascinating wildlife.

One of the standout experiences here has been a thrilling helicopter expedition. Guests loved soaring over seaside cliffs filled with puffins, glittering red sand beaches, and lush hills.

I just got a call from my client… he said all activities have been amazing – especially the helicopter tour, the pilot has been absolutely outstanding!

Other highlights of Westfjords include the spectacular Drangajökull glacier, the thunderous Dynjandi waterfall, and a picnic in a scenic location.

2.  Sampling gourmet food and wine in Reykjavík

With its fresh, locally sourced ingredients and unique flavors, Iceland’s cuisine has pleasantly surprised visitors with its unexpected appeal. Many of our guests have savored the best of it on a privately guided gourmet food and wine tour through downtown Reykjavík.

I've been on a LOT of food tours and I have to say that this one was one of the best I've had. Loved all the food, love that it was sophisticated.

On this 4-hour guided tour, they’ve visited fine dining restaurants, iconic street food spots, and other hand-picked local favorites. Guests have sampled freshly caught seafood, traditionally baked pastries, and other hand-picked delicacies.

But the real highlight of the tour was their host, whose warmth, passion, and infectious energy brought every dish and story to life.

We highly recommend this culinary tour for those looking for a fun and immersive way to learn about Iceland's gastronomic traditions and culture.

3. Glamping in the Greenlandic wilderness

Glamping at Camp Kiattua is undoubtedly the highlight of our clients' journeys to Greenland.

Camp Kiattua, a luxury tipi camp accessible only by boat or helicopter, is set against the stunning backdrop of towering fjords and Arctic landscapes. Here, our guests have experienced the country’s raw beauty without sacrificing comfort.

Whether savoring meals made with fresh local ingredients, paddleboarding through glacial waters, or soaking in the outdoor hot tubs, they’ve found this glamping experience to be the perfect blend of adventure and indulgence.

4. Diving and snorkeling at Silfra fissure

Nestled in the historic Þingvellir National Park, Silfra is a boundary between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Here, our guests have had the unique opportunity to dive or snorkel between 2 continents.

During this underwater adventure, they swam in glacial water so clear they could see up to 100 m (328 ft). The water from a nearby glacier is filtered through lava rock, making it exceptionally pure.

Led by their expert guides, our clients have safely explored unique rock formations beneath the surface of this geological wonder while staying warm and comfortable in their wetsuits.

Silfra is an unmissable adventure for anyone looking to see Iceland's natural wonders from a different perspective.

5. Sailing on a glacial lagoon to a secret island

Many of our clients visit Iceland with loved ones, whether to share a family adventure, reconnect with friends, or celebrate a special occasion.

To make these moments extra special, we have arranged countless exclusive activities for them. One standout experience has been a private boat ride to a secret island in Iceland’s largest national park. Home to Europe’s largest glacier and Iceland's highest peak, Vatnajökull National Park is a must-see destination.

Our guests have explored its dramatic beauty here while sailing through the awe-inspiring Fjallsárlón glacier lagoon.

But the adventure didn’t end there. The boat whisked them away to a secret island that was exclusively theirs to discover. Here, they enjoyed a light picnic, champagne, and incredible views of the towering Vatnajökull glacier.

6. Exploring the awe-inspiring Katla ice cave

Venturing inside an ice cave has been one of our clients’ most memorable experiences in Iceland.

I wanted to express my gratitude for helping us plan an unforgettable trip to Iceland. The accommodations and activities you recommended were exceptional… A few highlights stand out [including] the awe-inspiring Katla Ice Cave tour.

Ice caves are formed as meltwater flows through ice tunnels, carving out blue-hued chambers. The dense ice filters light, which gives the tunnels vivid blue and turquoise colors.

One of the most impressive ones in the country sits right beneath the Katla volcano in South Iceland. With Nine Worlds, guests have explored its striking blue and black ice chambers on a private tour.

Guided by experts, they journeyed via a super jeep across the glacier to reach the cave’s entrance. Once inside, they marveled at the mesmerizing ice formations while listening to their guides’ expert insights into the glacier's history and geology.

The best time to visit Iceland’s ice caves is winter, when the ice is stable.

7. Hiking on the Sólheimajökull glacier

For clients seeking adventure, we’ve arranged a thrilling glacier hiking adventure on Iceland’s Sólheimajökull glacier.

Lying just off the Ring Road, Sólheimajökull provides the perfect backdrop for exploration. In a private group of up to 6 guests, our clients have navigated the ice with the help of knowledgeable guides.

This activity wasn’t just about the breathtaking scenery – but also an educational experience. Guests particularly enjoyed their guide’s fascinating insights into the geology and ecology of the glaciers.

8. Unwinding in geothermal spas and hot springs

A key part of the Icelandic experience is soaking in Iceland's world-famous geothermal waters. The island is home to countless thermal spas and natural hot springs nestled within some of the most extraordinary landscapes on Earth.

While traveling with us, our clients have visited some of the most incredible geothermal spots in the country. Here are a few of their favorite spots:

The Blue Lagoon Retreat Hotel & Spa

Many of our tailor-made itineraries have included a stay at the iconic Retreat Hotel and Spa in the heart of the Blue Lagoon. What feels more “Iceland” than relaxing in its milky-blue waters, surrounded by ancient volcanic landscapes?

During their stay at this wellness sanctuary, our guests have enjoyed luxurious spa treatments, Michelin-starred dining, and exclusive access to the Blue Lagoon.

My clients described their experience as a ‘10 out of 10 vacation’... Their favorite accommodations were by far Torfhús [Retreat] and the Blue Lagoon.

Sky Lagoon

Another guest (and local) favorite is Reykjavík’s Sky Lagoon, known for its infinity-edge pool. Here, our clients loved soaking up panoramic views of the North Atlantic ocean and indulging in the spa’s famous 7-Step Ritual.

This immersive introduction to Icelandic bathing culture features a lagoon dip, cold plunge, sauna, cold mist, body scrub, steam, and shower.

Hvammsvík

Hvammsvík, another geothermal oasis on the edge of the Atlantic, sits just 45 minutes outside Reykjavík. Our clients have bathed in 8 different natural hot springs here, surrounded by mountains and black sand beaches. They also enjoyed the steam rooms and other world-class facilities during their visit.

9. Whale watching on a luxury yacht

Iceland is a top whale-watching destination, thanks to its clear waters and rich marine life. One of the best places to experience this is Reykjavík’s Faxaflói Bay, a hotspot for minke and humpback whales.

To witness these graceful giants in their natural habitat, we’ve taken guests on a luxury yacht tour in Faxaflói Bay. On this exclusive tour, they’ve shared an intimate encounter with Iceland’s whales, white-beaked dolphins, and harbor porpoises.

On board, expert captains have provided fascinating insights into the bay's diverse marine ecosystem, while the attentive staff ensured every detail was taken care of.

10. Kayaking in a glacial fjord

Kayaking through Greenland’s glacial fjords is another unforgettable experience our guests have cherished.

What they have enjoyed most about this adventure is the sense of connection with nature. Paddling through the serene, icy waters, surrounded by towering glaciers and dramatic cliffs, offered them a unique perspective of Greenland.

The stillness of the fjord, broken only by the sound of the paddle slicing through the water, creates a deeply immersive and peaceful experience.
